Protest against Israeli terror in Palestine: 5 July, London

Dave Randall

Palestinians are facing a horrific escalation of racism and violence as the Israeli state pursues a strategy of collective punishment following the abduction and murder of three Israeli settlers. Dave Randall writes:

On Wednesday, Palestinian teenager Muhammed Abu Khudair was abducted and murdered in what has been described as a ‘revenge attack’. The 17 year old was said by relatives to have been forced into a car by three Israeli men as he waited for early morning prayers to begin near his home.

The murder followed a massive two-week Israeli military operation code-named “Brother’s Keeper”, ostensibly to find the three missing Israelis. During the two-week campaign over 570 Palestinians were abducted, more than 1500 Palestinian homes were invaded and 9 Palestinians (the youngest, a 15 year old boy) were killed by Israeli forces.

The bodies of the three Israelis, who had disappeared two weeks ago, were eventually found late on Monday night. The Israeli government immediately blamed the Palestinian organization Hamas. The United Nations has requested that Israel provide evidence to support their claims, but so far none has been produced.

In the past few days the Israeli military has invaded most of the Palestinian cities in the West Bank, carried out mass arrests, home demolitions and escalated the shelling of an already impoverished Gaza.

We should all join the protest against this collective punishment of Palestinians living under Israeli occupation.
