The media’s attempted whitewashing of Sharon’s legacy is not just brushing the history of one man under the carpet; it is an attempt to hide the present reality of Israel as a violent colonial project, which has occupied Palestine and waged war on the Palestinians since before its inception. Telling the history of Sharon’s massacres is important, as the massacres remain a central part of the state that made him a hero.
