University picket lines – a place of learning

Colin Revolting

The University and College Union’s members have continued their strike action alongside students nationwide after the recent rejection of a deal negotiated between the UCU and university employers. For some, this is their first experience of industrial action; the videos below depict the Goldsmiths college picket line where staff and students talk about their experience of striking so far. They discuss the things they have learnt and what they feel is needed to beat back the attack on their pensions and other aspects of the marketisation of education. In the second video, novelist and poet Michael Rosen gives a short speech in solidarity with the strike action and members’ aims.
