Join the national demonstration for Palestine

rs21

National Demonstration in solidarity with Gaza, Saturday 19 July, assemble Downing Street 12 noon and march to the Israeli Embassy.

Demonstration called by: Stop the War Coalition, Palestine Solidarity Campaign, CND, Friends of Al Aqsa, British Muslim Initiative, War on Want, Islamic Forum of Europe, Palestinian Forum in Britain.

Everyone who can should join the march in solidarity with Gaza. We need to build up international pressure as Israel escalates its aggression.

Israel’s ground invasion last night is aimed at demonstrating their over whelming military force. Notionally about destroying tunnels into Israel it will also extend the “buffer zone” around Gaza by destroying more Palestinian homes.

A Israel Defence Force spokesman stated: “We are now entering the second part of the operation. We delivered a hard blow to Hamas: we attacked thousands of targets, destroyed infrastructure, hurt operatives. Large ground troops are taking over targets in the Gaza Strip, operating against tunnels and infrastructure.”

Yet the real story is that Palestinian deaths from the assault on Gaza exceed 250, including at least 24 civilians killed last night. Israel launched further air strikes overnight killing at least 11 in just one of the strikes on Rafah. No Israeli civilians have died in the conflict and just one solider has been killed. This is not a war between equal sides but an attempt to terrorise and subdue a people living under siege.

We need to be part of an international movement to isolate Israel and support the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaign. In a recent article on rs21, Estelle Cooch focuses on why Israel is targeting Gaza and what we can do about it.

rs21 will be joining the march and have produced a leaflet on why we need to isolate Israel.  Find us on the National demonstration from 11.30am.
